Video: Logging Operations on Fiddler Mtn./ Babyfoot Lake area, April 20th, 2005.

On April 20th, 2005: Three Siskiyou Project staff members entered the closure area of the Fiddler timber sale (with permit) and surveyed unit 2 near Onion Camp. The video shows helicopter yarding (Columbia Helicopters) in unit 17 Fiddler and related operations leading up to Fiddler Unit 2. Extensive logging has occured in the bottom half of Unit 2, an especially sensitive area with many stream channels throughout, and sizeable water flows, Port Orford Cedar and Brewer's Spruce. We were shocked to find a strong smell of diesel fuel at the Onion Fen where vehicles had been driving extensively through the sensitive area causing ruts in the road. The vehicle wash station was not active when we entered or left the sale area.
